Atmosphere
It's a large open area filled with pre theater punters hoping to experience a once in a life time meal experience. Leather chairs, leather inserts on the tables, slate tiles on the ceiling open plan kitchen and beaten copper finish the picture, while looking out onto the Yarra if you are lucky enough to have a window seat. First impressions are of opulence as are lasting impressions. Not the plave to go for a romantic one on one meal.

Food
The menu promised much at not insignificant prices. Most entrees cost as much if not more than mains at some other reasonable establishments. The biggest disappointment was the "spaghetti with live Tasmanian clams with olive oil and garlic" The dish consisted of ten strands of bought spaghetti and about twenty five pippies - yes fish bait. Once the pippies were shelled, the meal was consumed in two fork twirls and two scoops of pippies. All for $36. Amain fish fillet dish was "only" $39. Steaks were cooked to perfection but be sure to order sides because you steak comes only with a knife and fork.

Service
Elegantly clad young waiters eager to serve. However, spilling wine onto the table and sloshing sparking mineral water all over the place did not impress. Food came in a rush to get us out before the 8.30 deadline which did not add to the atmosphere. As mentioned above, we were charged for "live Tasmanian clams" termed vongole on the bill. I've seen vongole but we got a buck and a half worth of pippies. The staff to their credit were very au fait with the menu and quite attentive.
However, none of our group plans to return. One can buy an awful lot of fresh seafood and good quality meat for $505 for four people.
